Fabric Mart Fit-Along Featuring the Palmer/Pletsch Tissue Fitting Method

Anyone that sews their own clothing knows how long it takes to make a garment, from the cutting of the fabric to the last stitch being made into the fabric. But when you try the garment on and it doesn't fit the way you would like, it's really discouraging. You've put all that work into it and the garment ends up getting lost in your closet for another day. We've all been there and Pati Palmer, co-founder of Palmer/Pletsch, knows it all too well. She's been fitting real women for over 40 years and has no plans of stopping. Using the Palmer/Pletsch tissue fitting method, you can alter patterns to fit your body. Melissa Watson, Pati's daughter and a designer for McCall Pattern Company, is helping to inspire the next generation of sewers.

Melissa and Julie (from Fabric Mart) teamed up to bring you a video series taking you through the steps of tissue fitting patterns on your body. The videos take you through the steps of fitting knits using McCall's #7246, a wrap dress designed by Melissa Watson for McCall Pattern Company. This pattern has sleeve and dress length variations. Tissue fitting is the fastest and easiest way to get a great fit with your sewing patterns. Things you learn through these videos can be used in your other sewing projects, too. The videos will show you how to do alterations such as full bust adjustment on a wrap top, forward shoulder, sway back and more. While we focus on how to fit patterns using knits in these videos, the pattern can also be made from challis and cotton blends.
