Sew House Seven Patterns - Burnside Bibs - Sizes 00 - 20
SKU: SU9612

The Burnside Bibs are not your traditional work overalls. Yes they are comfortable and easy to wear, yet they are much more stylish and feminine than traditional versions. The straps that transition to narrower ties offer many options for how they can be tied. And...like so many sewing patterns, we as sewists are able to influence how casual or dressed up they become simply by fabric choice. Choose a fabric with some drape such as Tencel and pair them with a silk blouse and some heels for a dressed up look. Use a more traditional denim or linen and wear them with a tee shirt, sneakers or clogs and take a more casual approach.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:  For a more utillitarian and casual look use fabrics such as denim, canvas, stiff linen or cotton twill. For a dressy, flowy version use light to mid-weight woven fabrics that are not too stiff perferably with some drape such as Tencel, linen, wool gaberdine, or sandwashed silk.

Sew House Seven Patterns - The Tabor V-Neck - Sizes 00 - 20
SKU: SU9613

The Tabor V-Neck is a simple yet versatile style that is as dressed up or casual as you’d like to make it. It is a loose fitting, drop shoulder tee or sweater that is built for comfort while looking smart. With many different options for sleeves, necklines and body lengths, you can make a Tabor V-neck for every season. Due to its wide, oversized body width, the Tabor V-Neck T-shirts are most flattering when sewn in a light-weight, fluid knit fabric with at least 25% stretch such as rayon, bamboo or soy knits while the sweaters are best with sweater knits that also have at least 25% stretch however, do not have a high lycra content (6% or above) or have too much stretch recovery. This is to allow the wide neckband to perform at its finest without puckering or gathering.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS:

T-Shirt Versions 1-3 | Light weigh, fluid weight fabrics with at least 25% stretch such as rayon, bamboo, and soy jersey and for a slightly more boxy fit, cotton, linen, and hemp jerseys.

Sweater Versions 4-5 | Sweater knit fabrics with at least 25% stretch. For best results with the neck use natural fiber sweater knits that are not extremely limp or stiff such as wool jersey, novelty sweater knits and some rib knits.

Sew House Seven Patterns - The Toaster Sweaters - Sizes XS - XXL
SKU: SU9611

The Toaster Sweaters consist of two different high neck top designs to keep you toasty warm and stylish in the cooler months. They are both very simple to sew and perfect for sewists of all levels who want to try their hand at sewing knits. These sweaters are designed to be constructed using knit fabric with at least 20% stretch around the width of the body.

Sweater #1: Is a closer fitting, semi-cropped sweatshirt/sweater. It works best when sewn in thick, stiff knits with some body to keep the neck standing upright. It features raglan sleeves, a wide waistband, a loose turtleneck, long cuffs and falls between the high and low hip. It’s great in a standard sweatshirt fleece (with stretch) however, it’s also extremely handsome in a sweater knit to dress it up a bit.

Sweater #2: Is an easy top/sweater that can be dressed up or down. It is somewhat fitted through the shoulders and sleeves and then swings out a bit at the underarms and hem. It features a semi-high-neck that takes its inspiration from funnel and boat necks. It also has mitered side vents with a hi-low hem that is 1” shorter in the front than the back. The front hem falls just below the high hip. Sew it in a boiled wool knit, a wool jersey or ponte for a more dressed up look. Sew it in a sweatshirt fleece (with stretch) or jersey knit for a more casual look.

RECOMMENDED FABRICS: Mid to heavy weight stretch fabrics with at least 20% stretch such as sweatshirt fleece, knit boiled wool, ponte, scuba, wool jersey, thick cotton interlock knit, jersey knit, stretch woven wool, and ponte.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner.
